The Possibilities of Me

I pass a mirror and I see the woman I've come to be.
In that face for free are the looks not only of me;
A reflection of time, deflection in rhyme-
It's Grandmother, Mother, Sister - and me.
I used to ignore that face, run past it fast pace.
I would not admit, could never commit.
But, suddenly there exists, herein parting the mists:
A love so very rare,
For the essence of my inheritance,
A feeling of final acceptance of the possibilities of me.
I will be all that I am to be;
nothing less will do, nothing less.
I've been waiting, I must confess,
for who knows what to see:

Maybe I needed to believe a little stronger still,
And maybe I needed to love in a way
that seemed more real.
